Nestled in the idyllic countryside of the Dordogne region, Sarlat, also known as Sarlat-la-Canéda, is a medieval jewel that enchants travelers with its historical treasures and rich culinary heritage. The city, famous for its dense collection of medieval and Renaissance monuments, the most impressive of which is probably Saint-Sacerdos Cathedral, provides the perfect backdrop for a stroll through the stone-paved labyrinth of the old town. Sarlat is also home to one of the most beautiful markets in France, where local specialties such as truffles, foie gras and walnuts are on offer, introducing visitors to the region's hearty culinary tradition.
